Birds of Paradise series
In this series of six photographic works, I explore the striking form of the Birds of Paradise flower through layered photography. By overlapping multiple images within a single frame, I create compositions rich in transparency, depth, and movement—inviting curiosity and imagination to unfold. Balancing simplicity and complexity, the works draw attention to the colours, contours, and textures inherent in nature. They also question the ephemeral nature of beauty: while each flower is finite, its essence persists and re-emerges. In this cycle, I reflect on how familiarity and the pace of contemporary daily life can dull our perception of what is inherently extraordinary. Through the use of layering, different perspectives and individual moments coexist, drawing the viewer into a more attentive and inquisitive gaze. The images take on a dreamlike atmosphere, and the vibrant natural colours, evoke a quiet sense of joy. In this series, I encourage the viewer to contemplate the overlooked beauty of the familiar and to reawaken a more intentional way of seeing.
